1863 Post - Cpl. Hill
President Lincoln declared Thanksgiving a National Holiday on October 3, 1863. Thanksgiving will be on the last Thursday of November. Lincoln wanted Americans to have a chance to count their blessings over the past year and be thankful for what they have. Thanksgiving will be a welcome ray of sunshine in the storms of war.
